I was on General MacArthur's Staff

During the Korean Conflict, 1950 - 1951, I was on General MacArthur's Staff at General Headquarters in
Tokyo, Japan, as an Administrative Officer.

Among other tasks and duties, I prepared a letter to then Speaker of the House, Joe Martin, wherein
General MacArthur called President Harry S. Truman, "a squirrel head."  This was in 1950.

House Speaker Joe Martin released the letter about three months after it was written, and it appeared in
the Investia in Russia and the Nippon Times in Tokyo.  Needless to say, this caused quite a ruckus.

Frank Pace, the Secretary of War, came to General MacArthur's Headquarters.  I let him into MacArthur's
office.  He asked where the General was, and I replied, "The General left yesterday, Sir."

I thought Mr. Pace would have a heart attack right there in the office.  He had come to fire General
MacArthur.
